Newcomers and Neighbors
of the Deerfield Area

Special Interest Groups
Special interest groups provide an opportunity for our members and prospective members to participate in an activity or project. Some groups meet weekly and some meet monthly. All give you a chance to meet new people and learn more about our community.

Details for each special interest group are in the monthly newsletter.  To receive the newsletter, or for more information about Newcomers & Neighbors of the Deerfield Area, please call our membership chairperson: Ron @ 847-444-0433.

Take a look at our special interest groups below and come join in the fun!

Connect the Tots

This is a great way for parents and their children (newborn to age 5) to meet new friends.  Meet us weekly for friendly conversation and playtime.

Some recent fun activities have included:
  • tours (fire station and a chocolate factory)
  • visits to local forest preserves, beaches, pools, and farms
  • rides on Metra
  • concerts
We also meet at various parks, homes, malls and indoor play areas.  We encourage philanthropy in our children by supporting our local food pantry through events and activities.

Check the newsletter for locations and times, and sign up for email reminders.  We can't wait to meet you!

Diners’ Group

This group gets together monthly to dine at area restaurants and for other dining adventures such as wine tastings, chocolate tastings, etc. A variety of couples attend each month, which provides a great opportunity to meet new people. Join us!

Ladies Night Out

Would you love a night away from the kitchen? Come and have dinner with us once a month. We meet at a different local restaurant each month to enjoy good food and great company.

Book Review

Great books, good company and hearty discussion are featured at the monthly book gathering. The group meets once a month at a member’s home.

Scrap booking

Get together once a month to work on your scrapbook. Whether it’s in someone’s home or at one of several area scrap booking stores, we’re having a great time working on our books and enjoying each other’s company.
Deerfield Dinners

Volunteers from within the club provide dinners to families welcoming a new baby, experiencing a family illness or surgery, etc.

Knitting

Meet once a month to learn how to knit OR socialize while working on a knitting project.

Sports and Leisure

Come join us each month for a group sports activity. If you enjoy tennis, biking, golf or billiards, then you will enjoy our activities. Recently, we added a men’s softball team and fantasy football. We usually meet at a restaurant for refreshments after each outing.

Poker Night

This is a low stakes game of poker with everyone pitching in $5 for drinks and snacks. We plan a low key evening with no stress and good company. The group meets monthly.

Special Events

Over the course of the year, NNDA sponsors many special events. The annual holiday party, murder mystery party, and wine tasting party are a few examples.
